‘Immortal Mortals’ Paintings
Anastasia’s Mythology series takes inspiration from her heritage and upbringing in Greece and were displayed in her ‘Immortal Mortals’ Exhibition.
She explores the juxtaposition between the ancient and the modern - for example, the bodies have a sculpture-like quality, however, express a human element within the eyes.
The ancient heroes and myths represented in these works embody the traits within everyone that build character and personality for example power, strength, beauty, wisdom and individuality. The gods themselves - much like us - argue, fall in love, get jealous and make mistakes. For this reason, people didn’t see the gods as perfect beings, but rather just like them.
